DESCRIPTION: 

This one-hour session begins with the review of the employee workbook that will be provided to attendees and used throughout the five-day boot camp.  The presenter will then demonstrate how Excel tables can be used to automate several school business practices. Learning how to use Excel tables will allow you to sort, filter, organize and easily view your data.  You’ll also learn how to define named ranges to make your formulas easier to read and understand.  The presenter will also demonstrate how to create absolute and relative references and discuss when it’s appropriate to use them when developing spreadsheets.

SESSION 2: Master VLOOKUP in Excel 

DESCRIPTION:

This one-hour session reviews the process for using VLOOKUP in Excel – a function used to find data in a large spreadsheet or for locating information you frequently use.  You’ll also learn how to use the text concatenate function in Excel, how to create dynamic narratives, use the VLOOKUP to find text for narratives, and how to manipulate text using LEFT, RIGHT, MID, and FIND string formulas.

SESSION 3: Master Advanced Excel Formulas

DESCRIPTION:

This one-hour session examines some of the most powerful Excel features. Creating formulas to automate various data tables can save valuable time and energy and can also significantly reduce errors. It can take 2-3 weeks of manual work to create a district’s salary sheet. Join this webinar and learn how Excel can be used to automate these common business practices and turn 2-3 weeks of work to 2-3 hours.

SESSION 4: Master IF Statements in Excel

DESCRIPTION:

This one-hour session will examine the purpose of using conditional formulas and teach you how IF statements can be used in Excel to build smart formulas that can test conditions before calculation. The presenter will demonstrate how to use IFERROR, IFS, SUMIF, SUMIFS, COUNTIF, COUNTIFS, and other conditional formulas and give participants an opportunity to practice along. The presenter will also discuss how these formulas can be used to speed up the review process and verify the validity of data.

SESSION 5: Master Pivot Tables in Excel

DESCRIPTION:

This one-hour session examines the Excel pivot table, one of the most powerful tools used to calculate, summarize, and analyze data.  Create visuals for your budget presentation that allows your board to easily see comparison patterns and trends in your data. Pivot tables are easy to use, allow you to sort and re-sort information in a summarized format and provides data analysis that can easily be identified and updated. This session also reviews advanced filtering techniques and how to import text and further manipulate data.

Objective 1: Examine the process for creating a pivot table in Excel.

Objective 2: Identify the purpose and processes for using the advanced filtering and importing text into an Excel spreadsheet.
