Have you ever wondered why so many of the classic business management texts are on the must-read list for educational leaders? Oftentimes we hear that schools are not businesses and to some extent this may be true. There is, however, much you can share with the educators that comprise your school’s leadership team beyond the management of resources and finances. Designed to help you claim your seat at the educational decision-making table and impact long term improvement, this session will explore the intersection of business management concepts and organizational change as they apply to school improvement and effective leadership. This session was originally recorded for the 2020 Envision virtual conference.

Learning Objectives:

Objective 1: Explain business management concepts and their intersection with school improvement.

Objective 2: Discuss the role of the business official in educational decision-making; identify impediments and solutions.

Objective 3: Outline application of business management concepts to drive change in school systems.
