Maintaining a full roster of qualified full-time educators has become increasingly difficult for school administrators over the past decade. Teacher attrition remains high, exacerbated by a shrinking pipeline of new teachers and the COVID-19 pandemic. While teachers overwhelmingly report passion for their career choice, they also express a crisis of confidence in their personal financial futures. More than a third of educators are considering leaving the profession for a higher-paying job in the next three years, according to a June 2020 Horace Mann study of 2,490 K-12 educators in the United States. Helping to address the student loan debt issue could have a substantial impact on teacher retention. Eighty-eight percent of educators said they would be more likely to stay in education if they could have their student loans forgiven, and 70% said they would stay in the profession longer if they could obtain a lower monthly payment on their student loans.

After a year of financial uncertainty, districts across the country have an unprecedented amount of new federal relief funds (ESSER I, ESSER II, and American Rescue Plan ESSER/ESSER III) heading their way. We’ll share what leaders need to know as they budget for these dollars, as well as ways to help students access more learning time that don’t require the district to take on recurring costs. This session will offer a set of cost-equivalent tradeoffs, as well as a proposed allocation timeline that districts can use for pacing their spending. Lots of opportunity for questions and to share ideas and lessons from participants’ own locales.

Bring a laptop for this hands-on workshop! Budgeting season takes time. Manual data entry is not only time consuming, but also prone to errors. With some Excel knowledge, we can speed up the process and increase accuracy. By writing a few formulas to automate various data tables we can save precious time that could be used on other important tasks. For example, we automated the district's salary sheet by writing simple formulas. This automation saved us two to three weeks of manual work and significantly reduced the chance of error. *This is the first webinar of a two-part series.

In the past, adequacy and equity have always been measured within a state by school district. Under ESSA, however, states must start reporting per-pupil expenditures for every local educational agency and school in the state on annual report cards. That fact raises the bar for school districts and especially for school business officials. Are there disparities in the way that funds are distributed within a district? Are they equitable and adequate for each school? What are the implications for allocating funds to individual schools? What impact may disparities have on school performance? This session will take a first look at the site-based per pupil expenditures reported on the Illinois report cards for the 2018/19 fiscal year.

Cybersecurity experts now all agree – with ransomware, it is not a matter of IF, it is a matter of WHEN. Traditional protection practices may work to some degree, but do they provide 100% prevention, 100% of the time? With an increase in attacks on school districts, preventing ransomware outbreaks is a matter of paramount importance. So how should school districts approach the prevention of ransomware outbreaks? One possible solution is RansomCare, a Ransomware Containment Solution. RansomCare does not replace your endpoint protection platforms (EPP) and endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools. It complements them. Rather than preventing ransomware from getting in, it stops any active attacks that do get through. Join Ricoh Incorporated as they present a one-hour webinar and learn how you can protect your organization from cyberattacks.

Public schools were created to provide safe learning environments to evaluate issues that could impact a student’s welfare or impede their success.
